FAQ: Subscription Questions, Settled

Straight answers to the questions households ask most. Information reflects January 2026 and may change.

Which streaming service is best?

None is best for everyone. The right choice depends on who watches, what they enjoy, whether adverts are acceptable and your budget. Our household comparison walks through common scenarios.

Why do prices change so often?

Providers regularly revise tiers and prices as content costs and strategies change. Always check the official plan page in your country on the day you subscribe, and watch for emails announcing increases.

Why is a show on one service in my country but another elsewhere?

Licensing deals are agreed country by country, so the same title can sit on different services in different regions, or be unavailable entirely.

Are ad-supported plans worth it?

They can be for light viewers. Check the ad load, picture quality, download limits and whether any titles are excluded. See feature checklists.

Can we share an account with family at another address?

Many services now restrict sharing to one household and some sell extra member options. Check your provider's current terms before sharing.

Is it cheaper to rotate subscriptions?

Often yes. Keeping one core service and rotating others month by month can lower yearly spend. Note your cancel-by date when you sign up.

Do I need 4K?

Only if your TV, device and internet connection support it and you sit close enough to notice. Many households are perfectly happy with HD.

Is using a VPN to access other catalogues allowed?

Most services' terms prohibit bypassing regional restrictions and may block VPN traffic. We do not recommend it.

Is Watchespmediamnch affiliated with any service?

No. We are independent and not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any streaming platform. Read how we compare.
